Realtor.com confusion….

Friday, November 14th, 2008

FSBO.com just wanted to clear up any confusion that there may be about a recent press release from yesterday claiming YOU can list a property on Realtor.com without an agent.  One of the most popular questions www.FSBO.com receives is “Can I list my property on Realtor.com without using an agent and listing in the MLS?”.  The answer has always been, and still is “NO”!

There is absolutely no way to list your property on Realtor.com without first having it listed in the MLS.  There is absolutely no way to list your property in the MLS without using a licensed Realtor.  The only thing you can control is the actual amount that you pay to have your property listed on the MLS and Realtor.com.

FSBO.com and similar companies have services that allow you to do this for a flat fee as opposed to a commission.  Any company claiming to be the only, or first to offer this type of service has been mistaken.

Great FSBO Blog for all of you Sellers out there…

Friday, November 14th, 2008

We just wanted to make all of the FSBO.com sellers aware of a blog that should be of some interest to you. Our new friend at http://forsalebyblogger.blogspot.com is documenting their experience during the FSBO selling process. The blog has a running total of expenses so far, and numerous topics such as costs, showings, offers, annoyances, and even a few blogs about how Hurricane Ike affected the sale of their home. Please make sure to add this blog to your list of favorites, and feel free to chime in on any similar experiences, or with any advice you may have for this particular FSBO Seller.

They are currently not using www.FSBO.com, but do have it listed on the MLS through a similar service to ours, at a cost to them.

This is just one example of how FSBO sellers can get out there and show some initiative when selling their home by owner. If you do not want pay high Realtor commissions, then you need to put yourself out there for the world to see just as they would if you hire them. In a tough market like this, your home is not going to sell itself. You need to be creative, and willing to sacrifice some hard work and effort in order to make your home noticed by as many buyers as possible. We commend this seller for their efforts, and wish them the best of luck.
